Round 87: Winners

Happy Tuesday, friends. Thanks to everybody who posted stories this past weekend, and thanks to Jaime Burchardt for choosing his favorites. You’ll find his top picks below.

Hey folks! I’m glad to be back here at the Angry Hourglass to judge this week’s list of flash entreis! Honestly, this was a weird one. Most of them were microfiction (learn something new every day), but of course there were differences to be had. After reading them over, it was tough to choose just three. But alas…

Here we go!

3rd Place: “Dead Kids Dancing” by Voima Oy

Truthfully, this is the first thing I thought of when I saw the pic. I would imagine that having a jam fest right as the end of the world approaches is an ideal choice. Also, the names made me laugh.

2nd Place: “The New Neighbours” by Bill Engleson

I really appreciated the way the author created a nice, compact world, and its charm made it stand out immediately. It’s got a great last line, and the M.A.L. description was a nice touch.

Steph Ellis

with “Family Gathering”

I expected some to go dark with this picture, but this story brought the hammer down with its power, and as the ending proves, in an elegant way. It has a majestic flow, with details that are divine.

Congratulations, Steph! Your story will be featured as tomorrow’s HumpDay quickie.

Next weekend, Voima Oy will be judging the last round of Flash Frenzy for 2015. The following week will kick off the third FLASH MASTER FACE OFF, and voting will be open through the first of the year. Hope to see you all there.
